Event Description

It's time to get our costumes on at Finnon Lake once again. Decorate your bus, decorate you, trick or treating, spirits, camp fires and always a good time.

The lake is full and Fish & Game just stocked it with 500 lbs of trout (approximately 1,353 new fish). Catch and release only. Free disc golf for campers.

It is $20 site per night. Reservations are recommended.

Firewood available for $5/bundle delivered to your campsite.

Please note:

Mosquito Road is not an option for the buses to drive-in this year. There is a sinkhole near the bridge and they are only allowing passenger cars through. Please plan to drive in through Rock Creek Road. If this gets fixed over the summer, I will update.

Details on reservations:

Everyone should go ahead and send a deposit of $20.00 to hold their space or pay the $40.00 for the weekend. If paying  by check, make a note in the memo section that you are with the VW Bus group. Payment can also be made over the phone through PayPal or through the link on their website.

A full refund will be given as long as you cancel the Wednesday before your arrival.

Checks should be made out to MVFA at the address listed below:

MVFA

9009 Orvel Becket Court

Placerville, Ca 95667-9040

Be sure to write the dates on there and that you are part of the VW Bus campout.

Thanks John, I'm sure we already have A-11 and we are happy to share as well.

I assume all attending are aware that wood burning is not permitted due to current fire hazard.  In my first email from the park, they mentioned

"At this present time campfires have been suspended until the end of fire season."

I sent them a question as to if that rule applies to even a fire pit (ring).  They came back today with:

" No wood for firewood. Nothing that will emit sparks. You may use your camp stoves, or the BBQ that is in each campsite.  Only bricketts are allowed."

Just want to make sure that everyone attending, plans accordingly.

Hey Kids! Laura and I are so excited that everyone is coming...Let's all get together for a happy hour at someone's spot on Saturday night at 4:00...We'll get the word out where our lil happy hour is happening to share some apps and cocktails...then let's go on a lil walking tour to see what some of us have done to the bus and vans...and hit everyone up for a trick or a treat :)
Mosquito road is open...which is very cool. So all is good there. They fixed the road last week and the camp host said it's better then ever.  Thanks everyone. We are in site A2 See you in a few weeks! - xo Joe and Allison

I have a question: Would they allow non-sparking wax-based (Duraflame) logs around a firepit that has been cleared of burnable debris and well-watered down? If so, I'll bring some that I got at a garage sale.

Mmmm, maybe.  Still an open flame.

I foresee a coupla-3-4-5 oil lanterns on the fire grate.

I'll call Karryn the camp host and find out the dealio about the wax logs. I'll post my answer tomorrow! xo :)

Maybe some Coleman lanterns put together in the pit might give us the ambience we want. We'll bring ours.
