Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park (IGR) is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills 12 miles east of Jackson, CA. The park nestles in a little valley 2,400 feet above sea level with open meadows and large valley oaks that once provided the Native Americans of this area with an ample supply of acorns. There is a museum and Native American village here to tour. Several easyish nature trails provide views of the park and wildlife.

There is plenty of shelter on hand to keep dry and warm and both.  No worries

Pulled this up.

Sites look comfy cozy.  Site 13 is open enough that it would be good for

Party Central.

But..., just checked the reservation site.  #13 is an ADA site.  No worries.

I'm in site #10

Any chance I can buddy up with somebody and split the site cost?

And I'll be happy to bring the Tent of Doom as a talisman against wet weather, but I've never been to this site before and I don't know whether the fire sites would accommodate it.

I'll do ya one better.  I also have site #9.  You can settle on in there if ya want.

Lemme know.

From the pics, the sites look fairly wooded.  I was also thinking of bringing shelter especially now that the rains seem to have found us.  If you want to bring the TofD, I can at least bring the camo tarp to use as a throw over to help keep yours dry or just use the tarp.  Pretty much same footprint. Your ropes and poles could be used or I'll bring mine.  Another thought is that if the sites are wooded, with a tarp(s), we could string ropes from the trees and make a lean-to of sorts.

Eh, no worries.  It always works out.

I have to bail on this campout. I will be in Oregon due to a unfortunate circumstance. Have a great time and I'll see you on the next one.

You'll be missed.

I'll be glad to take site 9, Regis, and I'll pay you for it. And since the attendance won't be great, I think that the camo tent would be big enough for us all if it's wet. We'll just keep an eye on the weather and decide what to bring and who brings it later.

And, Mike, we'll catch you on the next one. Know that as you weather the storm of unfortunate circumstances, we're pulling for you and yours.
