Event Description

Join us in the beautiful Napa Valley at Napa Bothe State Park for a celebration of the full moon. We'll enjoy pre-prandials and Thanksgiving-style fare at the Saturday night potluck dinner. This park does not take reservations after November 1 and is usually half-empty this time of year. If we're lucky, Joel will bring the deep-fryer for the turkey and JLT will bring the Tent of Doom to ward off the chill. Stop at the Bale Grist Mill next door and pick up some organic flour. see:http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=482

I understand that it is clear and balmy there. Enjoy the mild temps and blue skies! ;^)

From the balmy, blue skyed wonderland of Napa-Bothe State Park. (Ha Ha, it rained all night in waves) Six busses so far, the TENT OF DOOM is up and keeping us dry, We are planning on eat about 3pm today, so at that time hold a glass of sake to the sky in a westerly direction and we will toast you in an easterly direction. We miss you Joe!

Heading out there in about 1/2 hour with two pies! And wine!
We won't be camping tonight b/c we have to go pick up my mom, who is visiting for thanksgiving, at about 10pm tonight at SFO.

It's wonderful to listen to you all over there on the other coast. Hope your turkey dinner turns out great and next year I can join you. I'm here in Provincetown, MA, where the Pilgrims first landed and birthplace of Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving Eve when we turn on the lights hanging from our 252 foot Pilgrim Monument for all to see down the Cape. So Wed. night at 6pm EST look east, and I'll toast you guys in Cali.

Rain.

We had some rain.

We also had nine vehicles and a dozen people, plus Romy and Jenn for a little while on Saturday.

We had rain.

We ate like pigs ... a turkey fried on-site, mashed potatoes, gravy, rice, pie, more pie, and more pie, served with great wine, lotsa beer, and even a bottle of mead.

Did I say we had rain?

But we all stayed (mostly) warm and dry, and we had a blast. We toasted absent friends. We made plans for even more tentage and food next year.

Thanks, Westywoman, for getting us all out there and hosting one of the best events of the year!

John forgot to mention the rain. Because, you know, it rained pretty hard. But in between the rain and the falling water, we had a nice warm fire in a slightly less wet environment.

At least I think we did, I was drunk through most of it.

Thanks for the photos, Peter. My friends at work don't believe my story of camping in the rain and the Tent of Doom. Now I can prove it to them.

This was indeed a happy band of merry-makers. Thanks to ALL who made it happen! It would have been nothing without YOU!

Thanks for sharing and wonderful photos too. I loved the photo of the California wine bottles - empty! Hope to join you next year. Never knew Californians were so hardy and waterproof. HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
