I have a 1981 air cooled calif emission westfalia that has sat for several years and was not running when I aquired it.

It is at the shop.

The problem is either the ecu the distributer or the ignition module, or a combination.

I purchased an ecu used from epartsland, and it has not solved the problem. My mechanic seems to think the ecu is not operable.

So now I need to check 2 ecu's and 3 ignition modules to see if they are operable or not.

These items are "plug and play" which means to check them it would simply be a case of unplugging yours and plugging in mine to see if it is operable. More than one mechanic has assured me there is no risk of harming a vehicle by testing these items, they will either be operable or not.

I would be happy to pay anyone $20 to allow me to check these items, and am willing to drive to you. I need to check these in an air cooled california emission 1981-1983 vanagon or westfalia, any transmission, according to several mechanics, blogs, and vw owners.

I am in the inland empire and would be happy to drive to you to check my parts, as far west/south as laguna/temecula, as far north as sun valley/hesperia, as far east as Indio.

I am a single mom and would appreciate any assistance, I can't afford to simply re-purchase all three parts, as the westfalia has been neglected and I personally replaced the fuel pump and csv prior to taking the vw to the shop. I also purchased all new foam and made new canvas covers for the sleeper. I will need to make a new tent etc.....perhaps I could offer some sewing ??? I am open to suggestions.
