The iPods are loaded with killer tunes, the alcohol and sustenance  are ready for transport and The Pig is itching to get on the road!  5 A.M. wake up.

Thanks...I just started a Facebook page called Rocky Mountain VW Campers.  There must be 30 VW campers, buses, Westys, and vans in this town of Salida.  I'll let you know when we're all going to try to get it together and go camping!!  We'd love anyone to join us.

We're heading up to Monarch Park on Friday morning.  A month of no camping is TOO LONG.

What's the word in here?  I want to hear about some good camping spots in Colorado. The last couple of summers we have been camping around the Souhwestern portion of the state. I want to spread my wings and go in a different direction.

Twin Lakes on the east side of Independence Pass is pretty nice.  There's a nice little trail around the back side of the lake.  You could always take Cottonwood Pass over to Taylor Resevoir...lots of texans and four wheelers, but if you continue west it'll take you over to Crested Butte.  You could take I 70 to Gypsum, get off on Colorado River Road and make a second left and that will take you on top of the Flat Tops...it's dirt, but it's easy.  I think it's called Coffee Pot road.  There's all kinds of lakes and camping.  Have you been to Lake City?...that's kind of a cool little town.  Black Canyon of the Gunnison?
