420 In The Foothills at Lime Saddle CG, Lake Oroville

April 19, 2024 at 3pm to April 21, 2024 at 12pm
Saddle up Volks!VWCF is going to the foothills near Lake Oroville at Lime Saddle Campground. This place is beautiful this time of year whilst it's still green and the wildflowers are out. Soon after, this place is parched and HOT. LS is fairly new, with flush commodes and showers. There's a nice short trail amongst the oaks with an explosion of wildflowers. If you have a boat there's a marina nearby. The old VWCF adage holds - Bring firewood. Bring tasty beverages. Bring a friend. Have fun.hope to see you there!See More

TrainSpotting 13, June 7-9, 2024 at Hallsted Campground, Twain, Plumas County, CA

There continues to be highway construction and related delays in the Feather River Canyon/Highway 70. Check 511.org before you travel. The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat! The weather can be variable in June. For information on the Hallsted campground, the recreation.gov link is below:https://www.recreation.gov/camping/hallsted/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70560100 FREE things to do in Plumas County:http://plumascounty.org/documents/100_things_plumas.pdfThose looking for hot springs can…See More

We are starting this weekend one day early this year! Check in is at noon on Thursday, May 16th.  One lucky bus or van (including occupants) will get their camping for free from Ranger Chris! Only Ranger Chris knows what lucky camper this will be. There is no such thing as reservations for this event! Drive in and pick your spot or join another camper and make new friends. The campground is closed to the general public until Memorial Day. But, Ranger Chris opens it JUST FOR US the weekend before! It’s a secret - it’s special! Trust us - this is our 16th year! The gate will open this year on Thursday, May 16th at noon. That’s right - we are adding one more day to this amazing weekend. There will be space for you - no reservations needed. We have never turned anyone away. We love that this event brings 60-80 VW’s every year! What makes this event so special - the beautiful setting in the redwoods, hot showers, flush toilets, dishwashing stations, access to a private beach on the Russian…See More

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS RESERVATIONS FOR THIS EVENT.Let me explain that further - the campground is closed to the general public until Memorial Day. But Ranger Chris opens the campground Friday morning JUST FOR US. It's secret! It's special. Don't ruin it. If you call, the answering message will say it's not open until memorial day. If you show up the Wednesday or Thursday before, they will not be open. Please do not call the campground or show up before Friday. We've been doing this for 6 years!!!! Trust us. The campground will be open on Friday. There will be space for you. Thanks!Simply RSVP here so we have an idea on how many might show up and then show up! No worries! For those of you who have been, you know why you come back.Schoolhouse Canyon Campground 12600 River Rd, Guerneville, CA 95446Campsite - first 2 people and 1 vehicle - $35/night Extra people $5 per person/nightExtra vehicle $5/nightDogs $5  - no Pit Bulls or aggressive dogs/nightRV or Trailer Up-charge…See More
