Event Description

Berlin, a turn-of-the-century mining town, is preserved in a state of arrested decay. A trail through the town site tells the story of Berlin and its mine. Ichthyosaurs (pronounced “ick-thee-o-sores”) were ancient marine reptiles that swam in a warm ocean covering central Nevada 225 million years ago. Remains of these giant marine vertebrates are on display at the park’s Fossil House, and these official state fossils are a primary attraction for visitors from throughout the world. The park is east of Gabbs via State route 844.

Please RSVP as Robin, local park ranger, is expecting a head count for reservations...hee-hee.  There is a camping fee which is under $20 a night.  WARNING: this is a very rural camp area...very difficult to locate an afternoon beverage if not supplied in your cooler.

Campfires in a fire ring in a developed campground will be fine. Now, the question is, do they sell firewood, do we have to haul our own in and are there any restrictions on bringing in wood from outside? I don't really want to haul in wood on this trip.

I'm bringing a bundle of wood, case of beer, and some wine. I was thinking of bringing some cinder blocks to make the downhills a little more exciting.

From the park: You can bring wood or collect it outside the park boundaries.  There is no wood for sale or for collection in the park.

I'm bringing my mountain bike. Jason, Romy and anyone else want to go for a ride one day. I hear there's a lot of dirt out there. -Blake

Sounds good; we'll throw our bikes on the back of the bus!

Don't think there will be much cell phone coverage out there, at least for AT&T users!

I checked tmobile...looks like there may be some coverage actually.  But probably not (and I'd rather not have it anyhow!)
