Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest. The campout will feature tie-dyeing and a potluck dinner Saturday.

Please Note: All sites have been reserved as of 5/19. You will need to arrange a share if you do not have a reservation. See the comment wall for a list of known campers and sites.

There are National Forest Service free campsites nearby as well as camping at the Twain Store, both within walking distance. The link to the Hallsted campground where the campout is being held is in the header above.

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a natural and cultural resource treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

OMG. Joe is almost right. There are only 2 reservable sites left. So we either have some lurkers or we have interlopers!

We're in and I believe we are sharing with Mike in site #10!  Hope it isn't quite as hot as last year!

Good news, Blake & Shelby! I think last year's heat wave was an anomaly. At least we can play in the river if it is hot. Everyone took advantage of that last year.

What river? There is a mega drought and we will all be dust blowing in the wind by then...

I am thinking of going SWAG-FREE at TS 5 this year. Is any one going to be super-disappointed? Or should we continue the tradition?

Comment by John LaTorre on April 9, 2014 at 12:48pm

Swag free is fine with me. I go for the company, not the swag.

Comment by Bruce on April 9, 2014 at 1:17pm

We don't need no stupid swag'es

Comment by Mike Fernandez on April 9, 2014 at 1:39pm
No swag needed--Just the awesome VW camperfamily!

No schwag for me.  All is well.

One of these dayz we might want a swap meet type thing.  I'm schure all of us have a few trinkets and treasures that could be passed along.  We can talk about it at TS 5.

Bring wood. Bring wine.  Oops, that's common knowledge.  My swag, I mean, bad
