Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest. The campout will feature tie-dyeing and a potluck dinner Saturday.

Please Note: All sites have been reserved as of 5/19. You will need to arrange a share if you do not have a reservation. See the comment wall for a list of known campers and sites.

There are National Forest Service free campsites nearby as well as camping at the Twain Store, both within walking distance. The link to the Hallsted campground where the campout is being held is in the header above.

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a natural and cultural resource treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

Sounds, good, 4 votes for SWAG-FREE, plus mine, that's 5. Of course my vote is worth 20, as that is how many sites there are in the campground, so we have a clear majority. I may still have a few raffle items, you never know. Cus it's always fun to win Vanagon wiper blades when you own a '59 Splittie. Just sayin'.

Maybe like one of those crazy present games they do at Christmas parties.  Gifts VW related.

Joe is going to share #8 with me. See you all there, if not before.

Rick and Laura had to forfeit their site due to a calendar conflict, so 4 and 20 are still available for reservations.

I discovered there is a Natural Foods Co-Op in Quincy and they are open on Sundays! Their FaceBook page says they have Thompson Valley Ranch grass-fed beef. So if you need to do some last minute shopping, they are only 15 miles away in Quincy.

Thanks for the heads up.  I've been to that store.  Nice place.
