Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest. The campout will feature tie-dyeing and a potluck dinner Saturday.

Please Note: All sites have been reserved as of 5/19. You will need to arrange a share if you do not have a reservation. See the comment wall for a list of known campers and sites.

There are National Forest Service free campsites nearby as well as camping at the Twain Store, both within walking distance. The link to the Hallsted campground where the campout is being held is in the header above.

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a natural and cultural resource treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

Half of #15 is open.  Doesn't matter if it's the front half or back half.  I did book the site for Thursday night also, thinking I was going to leave Thursday early evening.

But as that life thing trumps all, I wouldn't be able to leave until 9ish PM thursday.

So, I'll probably leave at the crack of dawn Friday.  PM me for any Deets

Thanks Rick and Liz for looking out for us! :) KampnKing, thank you for the offer! We'd love to share with you. Richie has been on a business trip and we have our fingers crossed that he'll be home in time. Happy Sunday all.

Due to overwhelming demand, the POTLUCK IS A GO! We will have a potluck dinner Saturday for those who wish to join in the fun. There's no theme or requirements, just bring what you like. The food fest is always fun and there's usually more than enough. If you need a suggestion, choose something that will go into or next to a tortilla! That includes salad, beans, chicken, anything! I will bring several stacks of tortillas of different varieties, as well as something else, probably chicken.

Looks like things are heating up this week.  Upper 80's kissin' on 90.

Bring wood.  Bring wine.  Bring a fan.
