Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest. The campout will feature tie-dyeing and a potluck dinner Saturday.

Please Note: All sites have been reserved as of 5/19. You will need to arrange a share if you do not have a reservation. See the comment wall for a list of known campers and sites.

There are National Forest Service free campsites nearby as well as camping at the Twain Store, both within walking distance. The link to the Hallsted campground where the campout is being held is in the header above.

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a natural and cultural resource treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

Firewood has always been available at the campground: the Twain Store supplies it to the camp host. And it is advisable to "buy it where you burn it". That being said, many campers arrive with (hopefully) clean wood from home.

Buy it where you burn it

All gassed up, washed up, packed up.

Going to do something a bit different food wise.  I am bringing some essentials like chips, cheese and salsa.

But most of my purchases are going to be from the Twain Store.  I hope I can find tasty edibles or else it's Beef Jerky and gum for Potluck.

I have #15.  The second half is open. FCFS , without prior contact.

See ya there.  I am bringing a coupla gold pans to dip in the brook, creek, crick, stream, river or whatever it will be called depending on flow.

Try your luck?

There's always the Co-Op or Safeway in Quincy if you feel like making the trek. Otherwise the Twain Store likely sells dogs and beans and I know they have a decent beer selection. Enjoy the ride! See you at camp!

Now I give up. LOL!!! F****ng auto-correct changes everything.
I was trying to say "bloody hell". What on earth was I thinking - that an American spellchecker would know the most common British profanity? Shows u how dumb I am and that I am alone tonight camping with nothing better to do :-)

Hi Everybody!

Romy and I are going to make it and we are taking Bubbles!!!!!

We will be coming up Saturday afternoon. We are hoping to share a spot with somebody for Saturday night but if there is no room, we are still coming to hang out and we'll have to camp somewhere nearby in the National Forest. I heard all sites were booked up!

Can't wait to see everybody again - its been too long!!!! :)

Sorry folks, turns out I'm not going to make it this time. If someone could let Gene know I would be grateful.
