Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest. The campout will feature tie-dyeing and a potluck dinner Saturday.
Please Note: All sites have been reserved as of 5/19. You will need to arrange a share if you do not have a reservation. See the comment wall for a list of known campers and sites.
There are National Forest Service free campsites nearby as well as camping at the Twain Store, both within walking distance. The link to the Hallsted campground where the campout is being held is in the header above.
The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a natural and cultural resource treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

My count was 24 . I didn't get pic's of all the vehicles. Sorry. Potluck was yummy.
Yes, a special thanks to WestyWoman, Joe, and John for all their work on the campout. And Regis - Great Pics! My van even made the show!
When & Where's the next VWCF Campout?
They seem a little lean in the summer months. Of course I guess I could sponsor an event - but it would probably rain! Hmmm... maybe that would be a good thing.
And thanks to Joe for the dinner, for Westywoman for hosting, and everybody else for showing up. It was good seeing faces I hadn't seen for a while.
Young Jack lost his stuffed Dalmatian with a red collar. His name is Freddie and Jack is very sad he can't find him. If anyone found the stuffed dog, please post it here so we can get it back to Kathleen, Adam and Young Jack (the tent people who joined us).
