Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest.

We have a full house. ALL SITES HAVE BEEN RESERVED as of May 17. There is one non-reservable site you can take a chance on. Otherwise, check the comment wall to see if someone wants to share. The recreation.gov link is below:

Hallsted Campground

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

Jamez, that poster is downright ridiculously PERFECT!

Love the poster, love the potluck.  I'll be bringing some type of asian salad or slaw.

FYI... Our new friend Dan and his dog Rae (they were at Bus city) may be trying to snag the walkup site.

Thanks Melissa - I'm trying to decide what to bring that will keep well or that I can make in camp :)

There's ice at the Twain Store, a mere 1/4 mile walk through the woods, so should be easy to keep things cold. Also, if you feel like venturing out, there's always Quincy and a stop to see the Keddie Wye along the way. Quincy has a natural foods co-op and a Safeway, I think.

Lots of goodies.  Might be two raffles.

Looked at extended forecast.  Supposed to be mid 80's here during that time.

Lets keep our fingers crossed for comfy weather.

I'm in for grilling Aidell's sausages or something I pick up at the Taylorsville Young's Market. Taylorsville is about 30 minutes from Twain. (17 miles). Outstanding meats and store-made sausages.

Okay, I want to find out who are coming with children. Young Jack  (7) will be with Kathleen & Adam (tenters). Scott & Karla- are you bringing kids? Ages? Just thinking about planning prizes for kids...Please chime in and let me know if you have kids in your entourage.
