Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest.

We have a full house. ALL SITES HAVE BEEN RESERVED as of May 17. There is one non-reservable site you can take a chance on. Otherwise, check the comment wall to see if someone wants to share. The recreation.gov link is below:

Hallsted Campground

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

So you will be in the back of the bus... OK, I'll see myself out...

Werner, you got it.

The house is full! All sites are now reserved, except #9, which is a walk-up (no reservations). Some volks may be willing to share their site if you ask nicely. There is no obligation to share your site. And some may already be sharing but haven't made it public. We still don't know the mystery camper in #19.

I'm pretty sure that Dan is going for the walk-up spot. He's driving down from Washington.

It's a crap-shoot to go for the walk-up spot, last year some folks with a trailer occupied it through Saturday morning. They took one look at us rolling in and left (kidding). But, there are nearby primitive camping opportunities in National Forest or at the Twain RV park if he strikes out.

Scott, Terrific! :-)

I wonder what the people in site #9 are gonna think...

Comment by Jamez on June 5, 2015 at 10:46am

They're gonna think;

I need a vw van... :D

Hopefully luck is on Dan's side in the crap-shoot. No "kids" for me after all. Teenagers! I will be bringing bbq pork sliders for the pot luck.

Any biking in the area? I'm wondering whether or not to throw mine on the back.
