Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest.

We have a full house. ALL SITES HAVE BEEN RESERVED as of May 17. There is one non-reservable site you can take a chance on. Otherwise, check the comment wall to see if someone wants to share. The recreation.gov link is below:

Hallsted Campground

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

I'm going to make a big cherry cobbler in my dutch oven. I have a large oven, so I'm doubling the recipe. Will stop for fresh black cherries in the way (my favorite thing about this time of year!)

Not going to make it up there until Saturday around 11:00. No A/C in my van. Supposed to be 107 in Marysville today. Y'all may use my site until then if needed.

Feels pretty good right now in Quincy. Hotter than Truckee was, but not too bad at all.

Fun times! Thanks to WestyWoman for putting this together and grabbin an extra spot for the potluck and swag give away... and thanks to Regis for contributing to the swagness, along with Stephan and the cool bags of swag, and of course Van Cafe and their swag and the crawdaddys!

I was told my van looked like a Nevada Bordello

To everyone;

Thank you for bringing the "family" feeling back to camping. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed getting to know you all and hang out with some like minded "ad-van-turers", what a fun weekend. Melinda and Syd will definitely be in tow on the next one.

Y'all got me hooked, Ric and I were talking about maybe a Big Sur/Central coast campout sometime this summer, keep yer eyes peeled there may be a poster announcing another summer gathering :-)

FYI... There will be a 3rd weekend in August at Lawson's Landing/Dillons Beach, just to make sure we don't double book :)

Bruce is there an event name for it listed on the site? I would love to come too if it's an open invite.
