Event Description

Buckeye Campground near Bridgeport (off I-395) closes on October 4. The aspens and cottonwoods should be a brilliant yellow. There are several natural hot springs nearby- Buckeye Creek Hot Spring is within a mile of the developed campground and Travertine Hot Spring is closer to town. I suspect you can also free camp in the NF nearby. I, for one, do enjoy having piped water and toilet, so I will opt for the $17.00 campsite. The last time I was there (late September 2006) there were about 4 campsites occupied, plus a camp host. It was hunting season, so take that under advisement if you plan to go hiking.

Just to whet your whistle, here is a gallery of photos from my 2006 trip to the area. http://gallery.me.com/mmourkas#100320

I spoke to the ranger's office today, they said the camp host should have firewood available. I'm bring a bundle anyway.
