Young's Market in T'Ville will be celebrating the 100th year of operation of their National Cash Register. "The little old lady of Taylorsville street" Very nearby is a lovely well-maintained campground with hot showers, nice facilites, on the river. Grassy sites lots of room. Resident deer and Turkey and raccoons I suppose. I visited Philip Hyde's son David there in T'ville in October and did some serious leaf-peeping. Relatively close to the world famous Williams Loop on the Feather River Route, for those in training.
Local Historian "Bronco" volunteered some raconteuring.
David Hyde might do a tour of "Rough Rock" his home and the center of operations for his Photographer father Philip Hyde and now David. Web search for Philip Hyde is worthwhile. He was the most published photographer in the Sierra Club Exhibit Format "Battle Books" of the 60s and 70s. His work has the stuff of mastery and magic.
Dogs are friendly in T'ville. Barn Quilts abound. Pesky Moskies are gone by Octobrrr. Excellent coffee at the store.
Chili may be cooked without permission.
Since I will be riding in on a burro named Whiskey, I may be missing a few of my normal camping supplies. If I have forgotten to pack something, I do hope I can borrow "a cup of sugar" from my neighbors. It will be interesting to see what I am missing without my usual "packed to the camping hilt" van. Whiskey, BTW, is a very capable burro. Just not always carrying saddlebags full of camping gear.
I happen to know from a small bird...that the camp host loves Whale Rum . It's available from BevMo.
All...
>Showers require quarters. 20c/minute. Quarters are available from Barb-the-camp-mom.
>There is no A/C power.
>Verizon, T-Mobile, ATT have a presence in T'ville.
>Deer shooting season is over.
>Flannel season is in full swing.
>The squlls are guarding their nuts.
I will be arriving Friday. I'm chasing a ghost in the machine just now.
