Tumalo served us as a great stepping off point to Bend. Close enough to have a few beers and not have to drive too far to get home. It's a place crowded with RVs, and even in October, when we went. all the sites were taken by early evening. It's not outdoors camping, for sure, but a great, cheap place to sleep when checking out Bend.
