Texas Camping

  • Jordan Kauffman

Just went camping this weekend in West Tawakani.  My friend has some land by the lake he lets us use any time.  Great place!
  • Kirk

Awesome Jordan! I hope to start camping soon. I'm waiting on a load of parts from Bus Depot and Bus Boys. Once the parts are on, the camping starts. Any pics? I'm hoping maybe to get a bunch of us together outside of the "clubs n gangs" to have some campouts. Good to see you.
  • Gregory Moore

Hey Jordan, nice to see you here. Hope you and Kirk can handle camping with an OG orange westy :)
  • Kirk

I have green spray paint Greg. Don't worry about it. Jordan and I will hook you up with a paint job. ;)
  • Gregory Moore

No thank you! Brilliant Orange is the new Sage Green!
  • Jordan Kauffman

As long as it runs, I don't care the color!  I might try to make it out to the Joe Pool camping trip.  We ended up coming back early this weekend because all the rain. Kind of a bummer.

Kirk, what parts are you getting?

  • Kirk

New plug wires, and some small things. Most importantly new plugs for the cold start valve, TTS etc. Turns out the parts arent bad, just the switches. Bus Boys was the only one who stocked them. And I wait.
  • Gregory Moore

Welcome John... YES another orange Westy! It's 2-2 now guys :)
  • John Barry

Thanks. Kirk brought it on himself! He invited me and knew about my bus from my pics. lol
  • Jordan Kauffman

    Never heard of it.  Sorry!
  • John Barry

it is just south west of Ft Worth. there is supposed to be some decent camping areas if I remember correctly with power and maybe a tap at each spot. you can rent a spot or the whole circle of 10 or so spots(which is pretty cheap irc comparetively(sp))which has pavillion in the middle. Benbrook is a very nice lake imo.
  • Kirk

I've never heard of it either, but would be DEFINATELY into doing that when it warms up. Hell, maybe even now. Hahaha Be nice to get a bunch of us there. At least us Sage Greens. ;-)
  • Gregory Moore

I'd definately be up for it too but yeah the weather would have to warm up a bit. Also gonna be a few more months until my BRILLIANT ORANGE non sage green westy is up and going... :)

BTW welcome to the group :)

Hey Jordan-flew past you heading into the high five this morning. Tried to wave, but you looked like you were concentrating intensly. :p I was in the bug.
  • Jordan Kauffman

Hahah, knowing me I probably was by listening to a sermon or sports radio. I totally saw you right before the ramp and honked at you, but you were off. Funny I've seen both you and Sonia now driving
  • John Barry

to finish chris's comment above. we're staying at mission tejas on sunday.
  • Kirk

Ive never been, is it a good show?
  • John Barry

i haven't been either but from what i hear it is a good time and the pics i have seen looks to be a good time. it is put on the grass in the park in the middle of town.
  • Gregory Moore

I've always wanted to go and planned on it this year.... I ran into a hiccup getting my westy on the road but if I have her ready by that weekend then I'm definately going.
  • Robb

I've been once. The only dissapointment for me is that the camping is like 45 miles from the show.

  • Kirk

Wow. 45 miles? I'll make Eureka and the Classic (maybe) but I doubt Ill make the Nac show. Isnt James going?

  • Robb

Sep !st and 2nd.San Antonio oil drippers are putting on a car show at Traders Village in San Antonio. They are going to have free camping there starting Aug 31 after 3pm.  Im pretty sure Im going to check it out.  I know it will not be like state park or in the woods camping, but it should be a good time.
