This was actually on HWY 242 going from Bend, Oregon, toward Eugene, Oregon. Kinda in the Willamette National Forest. It was a awesome place and an awesome road. Those are the "Sister" mountains you see. But the summit that you work your way up to is surrounded by this lava rock that goes on for miles. One of my favorite spots in Oregon.

That looks amazing! We should have a campout up there! I found the sisters mountains, but I can't find this road you speak of. No matter, a few days exploring up there should fix that...

This is what is know as Mckenzie Pass. It's closed during the winter and open in the summer. It's just one of countless wonders up here. It should only be part of your trip. Summers up here are out of this world!! There are so many places to see and camp here that you just can't count them all. It would make for a wonderful road trip/campout area. You should try and make it a two weeker as least. Say, put together with Maupin???? If you make a trip up here for that, why not just add to the fun!!!
