4-7-13 update: I just confirmed with Ranger Chris that we are all set and a go for this year. He's excited to host us once again.
NEW THIS YEAR:
We are announcing the "Big Blue's Adventurer Award".
It's easy. This year, we'll note the miles on your bus in a spreadsheet. Next year, in 2015, when you come back to Bus City, we'll note the miles again. The one with the most miles wins each year.
Also Schoolhouse owns 30 acres across the street and a private beach just for the campground. It's just a five minute walk down the river trail. So bring your swim suits!
Wow Kim, that's an awesome tally. Do you have pics to go with :) :)
This was a fantastic trip and we look forward to seeing everyone next year! There were so many friendly people to talk to, and the location and weather was perfect for the weekend. Many camping lessons learned by this newbie...
Lesson #1 - Don't drink too much the last night of the trip. Packing up with a hangover stinks. At least the drive home wasn't too far and the roads were straight.
Ha! Good advice, Andre!
Kim - I think I missed your mileage? If you want to send it to me, I'll enter it into the Adventurer Award! Thanks for the bus count!
You got it. It was 55338. TyeDye2 is the plate.
I took a few pics of the vehicles but didn't put them to their years and all Carol.
It was so great to meet you guys! I put up some pictures on Westy Goes South: Bus City 2014
Hi Leeza and Richie, thanks for the pictures. I will post some of my photos tomorrow. Also I'm adding a link to your blog to the growing list of VW blogs on my website at http://yeswecanjourney.wordpress.com/. It's so great we have the tools now to post pics and stories and share such wonderful VW moments :)
I want to say how much I enjoyed my first Bus City event. I loved the variety of VW campers in terms of years/types and condition, and the variety of people - all ages and backgrounds. Special thanks to: Brett for creating this annual gathering at this awesome location (and the VW Camper Family group); new friends Barbara, Ginny and Connie who shared their camping spot with me; Thom and Amy who persuaded me to sit around the camp fire on Saturday night and plied me with more than one smores; John for his beautiful guitar playing and for loaning me a flashlight (John please let know how to return this to you); and to the guy from SF whose name I don't recall for telling me some good books to read (the names of which I've forgotten also!) - can you please contact me and give me the list :). Thanks and see you next year, if not before.
Hey Leeza and Ritchie, I added the link to your blog - you're between Wandering Westy and Wheres my office now. Go to http://yeswecanjourney.wordpress.com/, then scroll down left hand column until you reach VW blogs :)
Hi everyone, last week at Bus City some of you asked about the signs on my Bay Window bus for MG Awareness. MG is a neuro-muscular disease called Myasthenia Gravis which leads to muscle weakness of a severe nature. It is poorly diagnosed with some patients taking ten years to get treatment. Contrary to published facts, it can develop at any age. Sadly doctors are taught it is rare and they are unlikely to ever see it ... which means that even when symptoms stare them in the face, the disease is not on their radar. You can read the personal story about why I drove almost 8000 miles from MA to CA at my website, Vehicles Working for Causes (vw4causes). I hope one day to organise an annual fundraiser and have other VWs drive and participate with me to raise money for AARDA to help people who at this point get very little help at all. It would mean a lot to me if you would like my VW's page on facebook. I set up the page 4.5 years now and I'm still trying to get to 2000 likes. Maybe you can help by telling your friends, too? Go to The YesWeCan CamperVan's page by clicking here. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Carole :)
