Event Description

Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest. The campout will feature tie-dyeing and a potluck dinner Saturday.

Please Note: All sites have been reserved as of 5/19. You will need to arrange a share if you do not have a reservation. See the comment wall for a list of known campers and sites.

There are National Forest Service free campsites nearby as well as camping at the Twain Store, both within walking distance. The link to the Hallsted campground where the campout is being held is in the header above.

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a natural and cultural resource treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

49-53? Good sleeping weather! I talked to the folks at the Twain Store and let them know we are coming-hopefully they will have plenty of ice, beer and ice cream for the kiddos. We are probably already the talk of the town. I heard through the grapevine that we got a good review from last year's camp host, but it will be a different camp host this year. Let's keep up the the good karma!

My wife and I just joined the group and would like to attend this weekend.

Anyone have a site to share?

Anyone like to flyfish?

Thanks,

Steve & Joelle Davidson - 91 Syncro Camper

What time do most campers arrive on Friday?

Thanks to Lois Ann for sharing.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Check in at the campground is at 2:00 pm. Although I don't imagine arriving earlier will be a problem. There will be arrivals at at all hours of the day and night and Saturday morning, too. I do not recommend driving the canyon in the dark if you can avoid it. There's too much to see along the way! And it is a pretty hairy road in places. You don't want to end up in the river.

Now the weather says in the 90's... screw it, I'm planning on HOT!

sounds like water fight might be cool.  or maybe  a water "non-hostile engagement".

Do not despair! Bring a sand chair and enjoy the river! It was 100 last year and many volks spent much time taking advantage of the cold water flowing by.
