VW Camper Family

A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.

VW Camper Family

Hey everyone! If you found this, you found the online home of some very offline people - The VW Camper Family. People into VW bus and van camping. Get involved in the forum or check out the upcoming events. If you are into VW buses, vanagons, eurovans and camping, you should hang out with us. Really, you should.

Post an event: Post an event that you are organizing or know about. People can RSVP right in the event. Please make any comments about the event on the event's page.

General Forum:
This area is for threads of interest to any VW camper.

PLEASE JOIN THE GROUPS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN! THAT'S WHERE THE EVENT PLANNING HAPPENS! Groups can be created as specific needs come up. Things that are a help to all people, like "campground reviews", are perfect for this category. Or groups in a specific location.

Just two so far:
1. Be nice.
2. Keep the content specific to VWs and camping. All other threads, photos, videos, etc will be removed.

Running the Highline (Northern California) at Taylorsville, California, elevation 3,547 ft

October 9, 2015 to October 11, 2015
Did you ever wonder where the historic Western Pacific railroad tracks went from the Keddie Wye? The main line goes east over the Sierra but a branch line turns to the north. It is known as the Highline. It follows Indian Creek to the north. It passes by Crescent Mills and Lake Almanor. We're camping in Taylorsville, a few miles east of the Highline tracks. Taylorsville has a great market with high quality meats, home-made sausages, sandwiches and other grocery items. The Taylorsville campground is a half-mile east of town, along Indian Creek. There is patchy cell service in the campground. Bring your bike to ride into town! Those of you familiar with Hallsted Campground-Taylorsville is about 17 miles to the north. No reservations needed. There's plenty of room. If we get 5 or more, the host will reserve sites for us. Bring a table, not all sites have tables. It's an open, grassy campground with nice tree cover. Sites are casual, not highly defined. No electric. Modern bathrooms with…See More

"Was it foggy that night? Cause I sure wuz. I remember bits and pieces of some sort of Bus Crawl. I can only imagine what the owner of the Adventurewagon must've thought.  Like , who are these people.  But hey, they built a cool camp.…"
