Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park

Let's get this out of the way right off: Lewis and Clark never visited the caverns, but they did pass through what is now the park. On I-90 at either exit 256 at Cardwell (if you're Eastbound) or exit 274 at Three Forks (if you're Westbound) you can take a break from the interstate--and avoid climbing a big hill besides--and visit Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park, Montana's first state park. Open year-round except Thanksgiving,  Xmas, and New Year's Day.  The park is essentially two things: the campground and visitors center at the bottom near the highway and the river and the caverns and visitors center (including a modest cafe) at the top. A beautiful winding drive with lots of pullouts and picnic spots and hiking trails connect the two. There are rattlesnakes around, so no turning over rocks or sticking hands in holes. If you're just looking for a few…See More

"Your poster is fantastic. The venue is a bit more rustic and rural, however.  Think about sand dunes, grasses, oysters and clams and fishing equipment. Maybe more oyster traps and fewer umbrellas. Wow, Jamez, your graphics are wonderful!"

" BBV Event Poster; Rd 1, plenty of time for further tweaks/changes. Thought you all might like to see it as I'm working on it. The forum has been dead for a couple days. Hope this sparks some conversation :) -Jamez"

"H Bruce Thank you for clarifying things. We are trying to move our schedules around. Would you know of each of the sites have a picnic table or fire ring.. or is it strictly like a parking spot for our VW Camper Vans?? Best Caroline & Les"

"Ok I just read that dogs are allowed. This may be a stupid question but do they consider our VW BUSES AND EUROVANS as RV's ? If yes then their rules say only 1 RV per site is allowed... Thanks, Caroline"

Dillons Beach/Lawson's LandingNO BOVINES along the seawall :)A casual beach getaway, $70 for the weekend... pricey, but whatcha gonna do? No hook ups or electrical available. Well you could share a site and split the difference.  The Lawson village is on its last legs since the state will be taking over, sad... many of the old trailers have been moved already.I have reserved  site 3-5 along the seawall (water view of Tomales Bay) for myself , Gene and Mike. The seawall is located a short walk from the store/bait shop and pier. You can fish for fish or rock crab off the pier, 1 day fishing licenses are available at the bait shop. You can dig for clams along the seawall at low tide too. Sometimes people will sell their catches of Salmon and Oysters... so the potential food options could be fun. You might be able to hook up for a fishing excursion too (I'm not sure about that) You can rent a boat or bring your own... even a kayak :) Potluck dinner up in the air See More
