Hi, folks! I just came back from looking at a campground on the Feather River, 55 miles north of Sacramento. It's very much like the Sandy Beach Campground at Rio Vista except for the lack of flush…Continue

A little while ago, I was talking to somebody (Blake? Doug?) who needed a switch assembly for the Westie interior light (the three-bulb one). I found one at the Bug-o-rama swap meet for $10.00 and…Continue

Halloween Campout @ Coyote Lake at Coyote Lake

Let's plan an unusual Halloween for the kids! There are plenty of campsites that overlook the lake. Bring your fishing poles! Personally, campsites #47/46/45 (in that order) look good to me.http://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/parkfinder/Pages/CoyoteLake.aspxSee More

We are going back to Sandy Beach in Rio Vista, CA. This is our annual practice run and food fest  before Thanksgiving. Reserve sites soon as they may go fast if the sport fishermen/women come back this year. Make reservations here:http://parkreservations.solanocounty.com/The geezer rate is available to those of you that qualify. Otherwise, be prepared, it has gone up to $34 per night.See More

it's about eight days before I'm to head out on my great Steinbeck trip, in which I'll be tracing the route that John Steinbeck took for Travels with Charley almost exactly a half a century ago. Wish me luck.

There will be three fundamental differences between Steinbeck's journey and mine:

  1. I'll have no dog with me. However, I'll be carrying an Opus doll -- you know, the penguin from Bloom…

John - welcome to the forum test. It seems to be working pretty well but let people know what you think by replying to the forum about feedback on the main page.

John, If you want to double up I have a reservation already at Sugarloaf   Ridge. I made the reservation online.  The site is paid for already I don't know how much the second car is but I am sure it's much cheaper. Let me know so I can try to change the reservation online or we can just add you when we get there.

I added you to the reservation. I will send you a copy of the reservation to your inbox. They did not charge me for the second vehicle. They will charge when we get there.

Thanks for the CD! Funny that I ejected the CD in the player and it was the mix you did for us last year. Dig the train theme!

Hi Joe! I actually signed up last week, but it has taken this long for us to be "approved!" I hear you will be in town Thanksgiving week visiting Joe and Carol. Hope to meet you then! Liz

John, what time do you think you'll be arriving? If we get there before you, should we back all the way in or take the front spot and leave room for you to get by us. It was a real dilemma  for us the last time we shared a spot and we made the wrong choice!!!

At 9:06am on November 14, 2014, John LaTorre said…

It would probably be easier if you took the"front' spot so I wouldn't have to back up into the space. I'll have my little trailer, so be sure to leave enough (it adds four feet to the length of the bus).

I expect to be there around one p.m., if not sooner.
