I'm in for cornbread. Tonight's test recipe worked out very well. The test included Jiffy Cornbread mix (I know, I know), minced home-made canned jalapeños and shredded cheddar cheese. I will be working on adjustments to this but I think it is good to go as is!

That there muffing thingy might also come in handy to whup up some muffings in the stovetop oven.  When yer done, serve the muffings to the unwary, and use the muffing thingy to load up on all that lovingly prepared goodness served up by your neighbors.  When yore gustatorial sensibilites have been completely destroyed by the application of chili, takillya, and other delights, you can whup up another batch of muffings for the antidote/palliative care that might be necessary.  Cawnbred and buttermilk in a tall glass.  Dispels the devils of abundant chili and little reserve.  Ya don't even have to wipe out the muffing thingy, just load 'er up and git it done (in the oven of course)

Thank You Al for your (as per usual) enlightened addition to this subject...

I for one am  considerably stepping up my efforts, and will be busy here in the Sweet Home Alabama Metal Works and Test Kitchen, adjusting, melding, blending, roasting chilis, simmering, sauteing, straining, in order to bring the very finest entry.

I'm thinking we might utilize the Tent of Doom,(thanks John)  with a long folding table (got one), an extension cord and surge protector and crock pots to keep the chili hot, (heat wise) for tasting. No?

We'll make this a Blind tasting, (numbered Crock Pots) Tasters and Cookers will vote for their favorites. Cane Rattler Generously offered a Cast iron Prize, We also will offer something to the prize package. Cooks can work on their chili at their sites (good idea we're all spread out, for those that wants to keep secret ingredients, secrect and such) and then bring their entries to the now even more aptly named, Tent of Doom

Iyiyi, this is going to be one Super, First Annual Super-Chili-Bowl-Weekend sez I!!!!

I won't be doing any testing or anything. I just listed my home sine I have my pending job loss, and I have to live in it, without living it... to keep it all nice-nice for perspective buyers (this sucks).

If any of you like Mid Century Modern homes... do I have a Home for you!!

Fritos chili pie is the original hot bag lunch.  As usual your research is only limited by your reach.  (I hate it when I do that).   SPAM?

Small hitch in the getalong there.  Per Sir John:

Lobster thermidor aux crevettes with a Mornay sauce served in the Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines, garnished with truffle pate',a smokin cup of dallas county jail chili, brandy creme, one measly Hab and with a fried egg on top and SPAM.

Write it like you stole it...Lance Armstrong to one of his no-longer illustrious hench.
