Event Description

Join us in the beautiful Napa Valley at Napa Bothe State Park for a celebration of the full moon. We'll enjoy pre-prandials and Thanksgiving-style fare at the Saturday night potluck dinner. This park does not take reservations after November 1 and is usually half-empty this time of year. If we're lucky, Joel will bring the deep-fryer for the turkey and JLT will bring the Tent of Doom to ward off the chill. Stop at the Bale Grist Mill next door and pick up some organic flour. see:http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=482

I wish wish wish we could be there in warm sunny California. Have a great time and hope to see you next Spring. We are in the place where the pilgrims first arrived, so we real;y celebrate Thanksgiving big time. On the eve of Thanksgiving, here in Ptovincetown, the Pilgrim Monument is strung with lights and everyone gathers to countdown to when the switch goes on. The 250 foot tall monument all lit up can be seen for miles along Cape Cod and the lights stay on until a few days into New Year. It's brilliant, as us Brits say!
Best wishes, Carole Brown

Don't focus too much on the weather forecast, JLT has promised we will have the Tent of Doom, which comfortably fits 15-20 and the campfire. We like to pretend we are Wet Westies, too. What's a little rain?

@Rick & Laura: your menu additions sound wonderful! We look forward to seeing you.

Listening to you guys from all the way over here in Massachusetts. Here's hoping you all have a wonderful time and you'll report back when you're home again, so we can listen some more :)

I think I'll be rolling in Saturday late morning to early afternoon. Anyone want to split the evening's fee? It's looking like I'm solo but may have wife+child. The fates will tell....

I'm thinking I'll bring ceviche as cooking is minimal! Do we have a good head count yet?

Tent of DOOM. Tent of DOOOOOOMMMMM. TENT OF DOOOOOOMMMMMM!

Hi Ritter-

You will find the Tent of Doom do be a positive place, especially if it is raining. That moniker was coined at some point and it stuck. Sharing a site is a good thing, as State Parks have gotten very expensive. I'm sharing with Joel. I suggest asking the gate to let you cruise in and see who is there and go back and pay the extra vehicle fee, then settle up with your site mate. Or if you show up first, pony up and hope for the best!

Head count is at right, multiplied by 1.25. Bring what you like. There is usually plenty of food. In addition to turkey, I think I will bring Butternut Squash soup. Looking forward to seeing you!

Do not despair about the weather forecast. As of today, 50% or less chance of rain Fri-Sat-Sun. We will have the Tent of Doom. Bring your awnings and pop-ups, it will be an adventure. Remember, no crowds, no mosquitoes, the sweet smell of oak woodland after a fresh rain, Napa Valley wines...need I say more?

What is everyone bringing? Can we start a list so we avoid bringing double or triple of the same dinner/desert item?
