Lake Tahoe, CA camping - Campground by the Lake
review of "Campground by the Lake" in South Lake Tahoe:
For people who can tolerate some noise and some cars going by, even you probably can't tolerate Campground by the Lake, a park operated by the city of South Lake Tahoe. Sitting right where highway 50 comes into contact with the lake, Campground by the Lake is boxed in by highway and road on all sides.
In all fairness, we haven't actually slept there. We pulled in and decided to move on, even after we knew we couldn't get our money back. This may look promising on a map, but unless you are camping to drink until you pass out, pass this site up.
