Turlock Lake SRA, Central California near Modesto - campsite review

Turlock Lake SRA is a backpackers, quiet-seekers, worst nightmare. Perhaps because it was Labor Day weekend, but even we, as often car-camping as not, were put out by the noise and proximity of the drunk campers. As EP always says, at least they pass out early, but Labor Day seems to be an exception to that rule. So skip this place unless you are using it as a staging area to get into Yosemite early the next day. Even then, you may want to check out Stanislaus National Forest - The Pines campground. Much closer and a little more geared toward peace and quiet (see our review).
