Understood Brien - I don't really see it have any negative effect on the event - we are all sure to have a great time either way. I for one can't wait!!!!

Hey, Volks!

(I'm smiling as I type this...)

Getting close to hittin' the road, and having thoughts of combining our favorite event - Bus Benefit with our favorite charity -The Phoenix Society (http://www.phoenix-society.org/). Hard to believe this is our 8th year of doing good for burn survivors and having so much fun in the process.

So, put your VeeDub hats on, dig deep and let's see what we can come up with for the Raffle & Silent Auction. Jeff Lincoln and I are contacting the VW vendors and our major sponsors. GoWesty is once again on board and will be sending a very cool goodie box! They are joined by River Vally Auto as a major sponsor!

Remember all proceeds go directly to the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors. Just think of all the good things we have accomplished on their behalf in 7 years. This small bunch of VW lovers has put close to $100,000 in their account. This does a lot good work for the people they serve.

The call is going out for all and any items you can donate to our silent auction and raffle. We are starting out with a few items on hand, with more sure to come!

8 Parking Levelers with VW Logo - Stained and Varnished. Donated by Chris Owsianowski

2 Matchbox VW buses - Donated by Lynn Owsianowski

1 Car Washing Kit - Donated by Lynn Owsianowski

The Famous, Much Talked About, Gotta Have -Buses by the Beach Community Quilt (Silent Auction)

1 - Handmade Goods Basket - Jeff and Patty (See explanation below )
1 - Hometown Goods Basket - Jeff and Patty

(Jeff sez: "Hello Gang,
Patty came up with an idea for the Auction at Benefit that I thought was great:

The idea is a couple of gift "baskets" for the silent auction. Each made up of small items that are brought to the event by campers.

Basket one would be items from your home town. So, bumper stickers, t-shirts, coffee mugs, magnets, basic touristy stuff. But also could be other things maybe a bag of coffee from a great local coffee house or a couple bottles of micro brew from a local brewery. Basically leave it up to the contributors to be creative in their thinking. The only criteria again is something from your home town.

Basket number two would be made up of items that are home made. This could again be left up to the contributors creativity but it must be something that is home made. Nancy's granola, pottery, crochet beanie...home brew.
We thought that this could turn out to be pretty fun based on how creative people can get with it.
Again, we would greatly appreciate your thoughts and feedback on this. Specifically how we could easily get the word out to enough people who might like to contribute to this.
Patty and I would provide the baskets and take responsibility for assembling them once at the event.)

Where else can you have so much fun and know you are helping a great cause? So, let 'ol Pedro know what item you would like to donate to the raffle and don't forget to bring some small hometown or homemade item for the basket!

Can't wait to see all our friends and buses gathered 'round once again at Grand Rogue!

HIGHLIGHTS OF BUS BENEFIT 2010

Hello Fellow Bus Pilots!

We are so excited that we are only four weeks away from the 8th Annual Bus Benefit hosted by Buses By the Beach in Grand Rapids, MI May 20-23! (Always held the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend) This event is held to raise money for the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors. http://www.phoenix-society.org/

This year is shaping up to be a spectacular year. Some of the highlights of the weekend will be:

• Live music from several artists playing roots rock, folk, bluegrass, jam and singer song writer genres. This year’s artist line up showcases some of the finest home grown Michigan music. Performing this year will be:

o The Stone Boogie Band – http://www.myspace.com/stoneboogieband
o Rosevelt Diggs - http://www.rooseveltdiggs.com/
o Jen Sygit - http://www.jensygit.com/
o Sam Corbin - http://www.samcorbin.com/
o Hawks and Owls String Band - http://www.hawksandowls.com/HOcover_page.htm

• Hundreds of VW Camping related items worth thousands of dollars will be given away at the Buses By the Beach Raffle. A couple of the big prizes are the brand new (one only) Buses By the Beach Ayers acoustic guitar and the awesome Buses By the Beach hand made quilt. Last year there were many Volks Folks that took a square to design themselves for the quilt. It has come together now into a quilt that everyone is sure to want! It is so cool!

• Beer Tasting hosted by Hop Cat Brewery. Hop Cat Brewery has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame amongst Michigan beer connoisseurs. Last year they were a hit at Buses By the Beach with their newly developed “Honey Sage Beer.”

• Carabus that will take you on a short journey through some beautiful country roads.

• Annual Blessing of the Buses.

• And many, many more activities…. (more details will be coming out soon)

LAST CALL FOR T-SHIRT PRE-ORDER!!!!!!

If you haven’t taken the time to order your T-shirt yet we would suggest you get it done soon! Think of how silly you are going to look standing there with no shirt on. :-) This is especially important if you need a size other than men’s large. There will be a limited number of large shirts at the event and they do sell out fast. So the only way to ensure you will have a shirt is to pre-order. There will be no women’s or kids shirt sizes available at the campout so those must be pre-ordered.

Deadline for T-Shirt pre-orders are 5:00pm Friday April 30th!

To order shirts email brien@busesbythebeach.com with the following information:
• Name
• Address (If you want your shirts shipped)
• Phone Number
• Style (Men’s, Women’s, Kid’s)
• Short Sleeve ($20), Long Sleeve ($22) (Long sleeve in Men’s and Kid’s only)
• Size
• Quantity
• Payment Type (Cash, Check, Visa/MC)

Once again our friend Mary Wisnewski has outdone herself on the Buses By the Beach 2010 T-Shirt design! It is a very cool Vintage Vegas theme. Check it out here: http://busesbythebeach.com/shirt.html

CAMPGROUND INFORMATION

A big thank you goes to Grand Rogue who will be donating $5.00 per camping night per site to the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors. Camping and Visitors rate is $25.00 per night. This rate is a single adult or family rate (Mom & Dad & Kids). If you bring multiple vehicles and you are one family (no more than 2 adults & kids) then you will only pay for one spot. We have a large area that we park the buses in. There are no assigned camping spots. First come first serve. Some spots have electric and water available. If you wish to be guaranteed a site with electric the rate will be $33.50 per night and it will be in another area of the campground and not with the Buses By the Beach Group.

Everyone is welcome to attend whether they have a Bus or not. Those wishing to camp within the Buses Group area will need a VW. (Any model) Only trailers and campers being towed by a VW will be allowed to camp in this area. Spots may be chosen and set up may begin on a first come first serve basis after 2 pm on the arrival day. Due to insurance and liability reasons visitors must register as a camper and pay the nightly camping fee. Visitors must leave the park by 11 pm. All dogs must be on a leash. Because these are special discounted rates, camping spot fees are based on cash or check only. Visitor’s fees are cash only. Please, if you have any questions at all contact:
