- Carol, I'd love to meet you if you come through the right time of year. My camper van is a 1991 Westy, and I usually take it across from Texas to the Portland, OR area every summer, take about 3 months for the trip, with 6 weeks in the middle with my co-writer/friend Sheila. Six weeks camping coming and going. This year I told my daughter she could use it for a shorter trip and I've fixed up my Toyota van with a bed and storage and a Coleman stove. Not nearly as good as my bus, but I am having some financial problems and I can't afford the two or three thousand I spend on repairs each summer and don't want to give up the trip. Not selling the bus, just waiting to see if and when things will turn around. In the meantime I'm cutting every corner I can. So at the moment I am not as fully VW as I usually am. Sarah
