Event Description

Many volks who are on the road from the Northwest USA & Canada to Busses by the Bridge stop off in Death Valley along the way. This is not an organized campout, but a place to communicate about where campers are headed. In 2010, we gathered at the Texas Spring campground a few days before BBB and then migrated southward. Hopefully we can use this as a way to keep in touch as to gatherings and whereabouts.

Then, on January 8, I want to head to Panamint Springs for an overnight stay.
Beyond that, I have no plans, except to hook up with Vanagonauts in DV over the next few days

Comment by westywoman (Melissa) on December 21, 2011 at 7:09pm: Minor update: It sounds like many volks will head to BBB on Thursday, 1/12, as they have decided to open the park 1 day early this year. So the best bet for connecting with others seems to be Texas Spring Campground a day or two before January 12. Others may chime in with their plans. I am going to try to be at Texas Spring on January 10. Also, one traveller recommended checking CB Channel 14 on the hour. There is historically a group that migrates to "Craggy Wash" north of the BBB campground the day before. I'll try to get the 411 on that. I know I have a Google Earth locale somewhere. Just have to find it.

Comment by Loren Busch on December 21, 2011 at 7:20pm: I can email the Google Earth location for Craggy Wash to anyone that needs it. And there will be some Westy people at Texas Springs/Furnace creek 3,4,5 Jan, Bernie and Larry Chase right now. Then on to Valley of Fire for some.
