Hey, crab season starts on Nov 15th.  I live on a boat and know a few of the fisherman who go out crabbing.  Maybe I could get us some of the tasty crustaceans and we could have a little crab feed on Friday,weather permitting.  Mmmmm...crab, sourdough bread, red wine...

Mmmm. Crab. When I lived in Baltimore, crab was a dining-out staple. But maybe a Gewurtztraminer would go better with crab (and turkey, too!)

Gvertz works! OK, I am in. Thanks for posting this, John. Have we picked a loop yet for booking sites? As it gets closer, I may be able to commit to the turkey once again. After all, I have the flavor injector for the marinade. :-)

I have made contact with the Del Valle peeps and found that the area we usually use closes on November first, but Regis recommended that we use the loop that contains campsites 31 to 41 (31 is the only one with power, if you need it).

I have just reserved space 38, and suggest that we start booking the ones on either side of it and directly across the road. I am willing to share my space with somebody else, so let me know if you want to do that or get your own.

I'm not promising anything, but we may actually get a Regis sighting that weekend!

While we're at it, we might also let folks know what you want to bring to the potluck. I'll bring the turkey if Melissa isn't; otherwise I might do my usual rice.

I just got word that Regis has booked site 37 for two nights and two vehicles. Woohoo! So again, let me know when, and with whom, you want to double up.

I just reserved space 40 for 2 nights/2 vehicles.  I can make mashed potatoes and dressing with gravy if that is ok.  I talked to my crabbing buddy and he says he probably will go out early on Friday, but that all depends on the weather.  If so I can grab an old ice chest to put them in for the trip up.

 

I also have a friend with a turkey fryer that we could use.  I have a full propane jug, but would have to get the oil.  It works really good for cooking crab too..:)

Break out the Gewurtztraminer!!

Regis tells me that the following spots have been booked:

31: ??? (maybe not one of ours)

37: Regis

38: me (JLT)

39: ?

40: Kris

And 35 and 36 are, I think, still open.

 

So we have three to five spots booked, and at least six buses coming (and there were a few people who said last weekend that they wanted to come to Del Valle but who haven't put their avatars on the "Attending" list). I just want to assure myself that we'll have spaces for people who want to come, so if you're not on the above reserved-spots list or in the "Attending" list, please let me know.
