Train Spotting will return in 2013. We will be going back to the Feather River Canyon-Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest. Hallsted has been refurbished and "improved" with new bathrooms with showers (!), a second path to the river, 7 sites now have electric hookups, sites are shifted around, there are new site furnishings, etc. There is also one pull-through site for a large RV. It sounds really nice but will be different from the forgotten little campground we are used to. Reservations now available at:
http://www.recreation.gov/welcome.do
The Historic Feather River railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a natural and cultural resource treat!

Cowboy Posole and Cowboy Coffee ... or some rather serious chili. Red, no beans, you know the stuff. Y'alls call. And of course the legendary bag lady salad is always available. CR
Okay, sounds like the potluck is ON! for Saturday night. Keep posting your contributions.
We'll also have our SWAG giveaway Saturday at dinner time. I have boxes of cool stuff from Van-Cafe, Stephan's Auto Haus and Go-Westy!
I'll bake up a bunch of cupcakes for desert.
I'll also make mac-n-cheese for my son and will make extra if there are other little kids who would eat it.
I'll ask my husband what he want to make. Whatever it is...it'll be spicy!
I will bring pie for desert. Is blackbird pie considered desert?
I don't think cupcakes or pie are considered desert, but they certainly are dessert! <wink>
Hmmm, Pecan Sandies come to mind.
I love pecan sandes too!
I no one else is making them...maybe I'll try one night after the kids are in bed.
Somebody reserved the last site, #4-it is gone! We are now down to sharing, volks! Find your dance partner now! If you have reserved a site, and don't see your name on the list above, please let me know and I'll update the list. In the past, there has never been anyone but us at Hallsted Campground this weekend. Maybe some interlopers from the wedding party at Woody's down the road.
Jonathan's work just confirmed he won't have to fly out on short notice so we are late but want to attend...anyone willing to share a site with us and our 87 Westy?
I have been sitting on the fence as my leg is still giving me fits, but I'll show up and hope I can share with someone. see you there!
