Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest.
We have a full house. ALL SITES HAVE BEEN RESERVED as of May 17. There is one non-reservable site you can take a chance on. Otherwise, check the comment wall to see if someone wants to share. The recreation.gov link is below:
The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:
Thanks Melissa! Really hope we can make and won't worry about a spot!
Ladies and Gentle man (yes, I am sure there is one of you):
Thanks to much prodding and poking, and Regis throwing down the gauntlet, SWAG will return to TrainSpotting this year. Van-Cafe and Stephan's Auto Haus are already on board, and I am waiting to hear to from others. Not to worry, there will be gifties that go both ways--oops, I mean both Bus and Van. We will likely reinstate the raffle, everybody gets a ticket or two, and hopefully, everyone is a winner. That's always the goal. Or we might go back to SWAG in a bag. It all depends on what rolls in the door between now and then.
Get excited.
Hi everyone,
I was up in guernville for a short lived moment this Friday (Tall guy in Dead hat handing out posters). Can I get in on someone's site? I've always wanted to get up into Plumas. I'll reserve site 1 if I don't hear back today/tonight.
-James
spot 1 reserved, excited to meet some more of the VWfam in a part of the Sierras I've been meaning to explore
Blake and I are planning to be there. We'll be camping with Mike.
I'm sharing my space with Brett Budlong.
Sadly my family, including the fiddle portion of the January String band, will be out of town that weekend, but a prior engagement I had fell through so I'm thinking I can make it if there is room for me to squeeze in somewhere. I promise not to sing too much ;-)
He may have stayed an extra night at Bus City. I know there were a few vans that were going to hang out a little longer. Cell coverage there was spotty at best.
