Scott is the owner of Dragonfly RV.

He used to work at GoWesty in Southern Ca. and now runs this business out of Coeur d'Alene ID, and soon to be Missoula MT I heard.

Scott is one awesome guy who loves his fully self sufficient Watercooled Fleet of  VW Campers...I believe he has 7 or 8 of them to rent out at the CDA Store. He was also discussing a Trip up to Banff and Jasper Canada later this year. So check it out and send on to friends who you may know would like to enjoy the Camping VW Lifestyle...if only for a weekend. Trust me, they'll be hooked after that.

Check out Dragonflyvans.com to see all that's offered or Call (208) 771-1112 and tell him RG and Hotel VW sent you!

Hello Bob -

I am a new member here and an over the moon new owner of an '89 2.1liter water cooled, standard 4 speed, vanagon GL camper.  My wife and I have been searching for years for the right ride with which to fulfill our long time dream.  We plan to use this bus to show our kids (4 & 6) that there is more to our world than Los Angeles.  ;-)

In finding your site via GoWesty, I became aware of TheBus, the movie.  I am an emmy award winning post production guru and would love to help out with your film in anyway.  Feel free to contact me directly.

Happy Trails,

Derek

I don't think the guy making that movie (Damon Ristau) is a member of this site, but you can probably contact him here:

Hey Derek, Welcome to the group. I unfortunately am not involved with the movie (except for a donation)!

Good luck with your roadtrips and hope to meet you and your family at a campout some day!

Cool.  Thanks for the welcome.  Did a day trip this weekend to Topanga and she ran very well.  Maintained 70 on the freeway solid at just under 4k rpm.  Had one experience my first week w/ what i fear might be "vanagon syndrome."  Lost pwr on the frwy after only 3-4 miles.  Didn't "hiccup" per say, but simply wouldn't respond to throttle.  Maintained solid idle however.  Put a good bit of white smoke into the cab, but once off the hwy and milking the throttle for 1/4 mile (trying to make nearest svc. station) it suddenly cleared up.  No shutdwn/restart required. Drove home (about 4 miles) without incident.  Let her sit for a couple hours, then drove to my local vw guy (Motrose Motors = A++).  They flushed and bled coolant (which was suggested I do by seller a week prior) and she's run solid since.  This weekend to Topanga was a dream.  Still a bit fearfull.  Planning to take fam to high sierra fest in july.  Heading to Quincy via Marin from L.A..  All looks good but for that one wierd "syndrom-esque" experience.  On another note . . . I have a tiny leak somewhere (shocker).  Not sure where.  According to dip stick . . . I've yet to need to add oil.  Coolant is good too, once filled post flush/bleed.  It's not fuel.  But I drop about a quarter sized spot of something each park.  It's dead center, 'bout 4 inches inside rear bumper.  I've about 7k on "rebuilt" 2.1L.  Thoughts?  (and please to forgive the rant... I have a gift for making a short story long)
