In celebration of 4/20!
This time we will be camping at Sandy Beach County Park campground in Rio Vista.
(Lake Solano suffered significant fire damage and is currently undergoing regrooving)
You'll need to reserve a site for yourself (and maybe your pal)
AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE because they changed the dang rules.
PLEASE SHARE YOUR SITE. Or don't. No worries.
Saturday night (4:00pm) will feature PANTRY-RAID CHILI!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Important notes:
Although this event occurs around 4/20 day, it must be pointed out that all Solano County Parks are smoke-free and they're actually quite serious. They also have a new Ranger who is all gung-ho. Discretion is nine-tenths of the law.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
PANTRY RAID CHILI INSTRUCTIONS:
Look in your pantry. Grab only *ONE* 14 oz. (or so) can that matches the description on the list below.
Then, bring along that can (and a bowl and spoon for yourself) to the camp out. We will add the contents of your contribution to a base of beef and onions.
PANTRY RAID CHILI CONTRIBUTION OPTIONS:
Bring along one 14 -15 oz. can of any of the things listed below:
Pinto beans
Red Kidney beans
White beans
Navy beans
Piquinto beans
Diced tomatoes
Diced tomatoes with Italian spices
Diced tomatoes with Jalapeños
Crushed tomatoes
Chopped tomatoes
Rotel tomatoes
Chili con Carne
Chili sin Carne
Chili con Zarigüeya
Ranch Style beans of any variety
Please do NOT bring Black beans.
Please do NOT bring Garbanzo beans.
Please do NOT bring Lentil beans.
If bringing a can of beans won’t work for you, then bring corn bread or a scrumptious dessert. Or a bottle of wine. We like wine. Or firewood. We like that too. If that won’t work either, then just bring yourself, a bowl, a spoon, an appetite and a new joke.
Call them. I have always had problems with the web site and make all my reservations on the phone.
I made my reservation and then got an error when done. Never received a confirmation, called and they had it and then sent it via e-mail.
well crap, he who hesitates is lost.... Both my family and my Friend Jason Boggs want to come, but there's no sites. If anyone has a spot, I'm vaccinated, so is Jasons wife, we can socially distance or whatever makes you comfortable? Let me know.
essentially 2 vans looking for space :-) 4 humans in each :-)
One van can share with us. Now we just need someone else who is willing to share with an amenable Vanagon.
One van can share with me too! #13 I have been vac'd and so has mom
Cool, Joe, me and the kids will go with you, and Jason Boggs and fam can go with Cathi and Jack. We'll bring cash to pay for half the site fee and our "second vehicle" fees
Now I can stop worrying about that and spend my time worrying about something else.
I would so love to attend this and get to meet some fellow VW campers, especially since my birthday is 4/20. However, am scheduled to get my second Moderna vaccine on the 16th and from what I hear I could spend the next 2 days a little sick. Disappointed that I can't join everyone. Maybe the next one.
You could stop by anyway. Come at 4:00 for the chili.
