Event Description
Time to camp in the "Valley of the Moon" in Sonoma. Or if you wish, continue celebrating St. Patty's Day at Sugar Loaf Ridge State Park. It will be a full moon that weekend and spring will be in the air! The campground is set amongst grasslands and oaks. There are many hikes in the area. One short hike leads to a waterfall. A creek runs through the campground with a large field inside the main loop. There are wineries nearby to explore.
There will be the traditional Saturday night potluck, so bring some chow, and of course the requisite wine and firewood!

There's lots of hikes in the area. Supposed to be a short one to a waterfall. Then there's a relatively flat one that starts at the planetarium. It has markers for scaled distances of the planets from the planetarium. Pluto (still a planet?) is pretty far out there. There are some other hikes up the ridge tops that are intense, but great views.

Looking forward to it. It's a huge park. I'm putting in for Friday off. As for potluck, maybe a about 1 week out we can comment on this, depending on weather. I still want to hike a bit on Saturday.

Hi Jason and Tasha, you can share my site if you would like. I just made a reservation for Friday and Saturday night. I'll have to leave from work on Friday, so I won't get up there until about 4:30-ish.

Thanks...That should work out fine for us...We are driving from Nevada on friday as well, so we should be ariveing around 5:00 pm. Let me know what site your in , or what your bus looks like so we can look for you when we show up.

I also would like to share a spot with someone. Should I make a reservation, then put out looking for a sharing partner for the site? Jason and Tasha, once I find someone, I live in Foresthill near Auburn. Maybe we can hook up in Auburn and caravan together to the camping spot. Im open about anytime to meet. Wow! We are up to nine attending, with three maybes! Not bad for a first time outing at this site. Is it time to start talking about potluck for Saturday? I know JLT said he is bringing the tent of doom, so we don't have to worry so much about the weather. (I ran into him at the supermarket, go figure).
