Hey thanks Ric! yup that's what I am thinking it is the tranny I knew it could not be the motor it only has 8k on it and the trans was never replaced (I think most everything else has lol.  Anyway thanks for responding. Did you get a gowesty trans? and if you don't mind how much was the damage? Thanks again.

Tom

Ric, The guys at Broad St BPA in SLO do all the work on mine, but I live in La Quinta (palm springs area) and I have a guy here for some stuff. Anyway I will probably have the westy taken up to SLO for this issue. Hope all goes well for you. Keep me posted.

As for damages, I  won't know for sure the total cost,  until I hear from the mechanic today and of course that's after they get the old trans  out and find out if there's other issues.  Yes the trans does come from gowesty.    My mechanic is in San Luis Obispo and he gets a lot of his parts from gowesty, which is about 15 min away.  But I can tell you the gowest trans that I'm getting is $1499.95 (Rebuilt 4-Speed Manual water cooled) plus a $750 core charge plus a $100 crate fee.  I'll keep you posted.   I'm gonna stop by gowesty when I go pick up my van to pick up a few thinks, that is of course if I can budget it after the repair.

Tom, I just talked to Nate and he told me he spoke to you yesterday.  Just got back from SLO.  New, rebuilt gowesty trans, and a new rear wheel bearing.  It's purring like a kitten now.   I'm back on the road and ready for a road trip!

Ric

AWESOME! Glad to hear it I will let you know what they found with mine, as soon as mine is done I will be ready for a road trip to.
