A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.
Hi There,
For our next holiday in March to come I would really like to drive some time in a VW T2 Westafalia Camper. We are a Dutch couple and are traveling to San Francisco. Is there anyone out here I can make a good deal with?
I am a great oldtimerfan, so I am used to old cars. I maintain my own oldtimers as well so the van is in good hands. In exchange for a nice idea or deal I can always offer to use one of my cool Citroen 2cv's (wwww.2cvexperience.com) or my private car: a classic Citroen CX Athena '81. My cars are based in Holland or French Provence.
Alternatively I am looking for a relaiable place to rent a T2. Plus can anyone give me some advise? I am wondering if it's not too cold and how does things work with campsides this time of the year?
Thanks for your reply!

Hi from Califorina. Check out Califorina Campers.com on the net. Winter rates until March 31.I have seen these westy's out camping and they look pretty together. Not to cold around the coast or desert mostly uncrowarded . Good luck

Hey Rien and Sarah-
Check out http://www.vwsurfari.com/. Bill is a member of this site and a good guy and, even though they are in LA, you could rent from them and drive up to SF (if you take hwy 1 along the coast, that's the best part of Cali anyway). His buses are well-maintained and he'll treat you right.
You should be fine with the weather. It won't be crazy warm but you should get sunny days and good temps. Campsites are a different story. I suggest using the "Campground Map" on this page at the top and zooming in on California and see what you like. That's before the busy time of year, but still nice enough weather to start to fill the campgrounds. Use the online state park site to book state parks: http://www.parks.ca.gov/
I'll post this note to Facebook as well to see if others can offer more advice.
Best,
Brett
