On March 31, 1965, I almost died. Every day since then has been a day I didn't deserve. It's been a gift, and I've had almost fifty years of them. I'd like to celebrate these gifts with some other gifts I've been given over the years ... the friendships I've collected from some of the most wonderful people I've had the pleasure to know.
I'll bring the Tent of Doom and wine. You bring wine, wood, and you sweet selves.
You can reserve campsites through http://www.reserveamerica.com/
There are two questions I have:
1. Would the weekend after Easter be better for folks? Now that Westywoman has decided not to "rough it easy" after all, we could move the event to the weekend of April 10-12. Please let me know, guys.
2. Will Del Valle even be open that weekend? It would seem that the lake might have recovered, due to recent rains, to the point where EB P&R would have it open. I'll have to check. If Del Valle doesn't work, maybe Finnon woulld be the better option.
Finnon is lovely in the spring. Possibly rainier, being in the foothills.
Kinda wish I knew more about Brannon island. Westgate might work for that time of year. Not user friendly for TofD type shelters
Chatter chatter chatter.
This thing is gonna sneak up on us
Westgate Landing is a cute campground, but small (10 sites) and no reservations. Finnon takes reservations and John can even reserve the entire campground if he chooses. We used to go to Finnon every April for the Bunkum Fest but that tradition died with the the 2-wheelers years ago. Then we started going in the Fall, when it is is hot and dry. Finnon is nicest when a). it is green and b). It is cool or warm, plus there is a cafe/market in walking distance. besides, there is still a wild horse wandering around.
That being said, I am happy to go to Del Valle for some of the same reasons. Not to mention the TOD and DA are easily deployed at Del Valle if we are in the right loop. Both have wine tasting opportunities nearby...
There is usually wine tasting opportunities inside and outside of the Napagon, also.
Presently, we're exploring the Pinot Noir's from the Burgunday region of France.
Ooo, tasty yum yums.
Ok, so the real name is Burgundy.
Eh, plus. My first. No second. Wait, first, VWCF GTG was Finnon. I have pic's from Finnon '08 and the Mt Madonna Nov '08 deluge. But I think I was at the Sept '08 Finnon GTG. Peter did a hands on tutorial of seat reupholstery for his machine.
