Event Description
Camp with us at Ocean Cove Campground, above Fort Ross and below Salt Point on Hwy 1. $20/night per vehicle; bring the dog $2; come as you are. We'll get there as early as possible on Friday, July 16, and stake out a spot to circle the buses (size depends on number of responses). Potluck Saturday night?
Note: OC, in the summer can be rowdy, but it's a party, the cove and kelp beds are hypnotically beautiful, and it's COOL, for those of us baking in the valley. As a side note:you might want to bring your own Port-a-Potty; it's "Tinkle-towers only. "Bring wood; bring wine."

Kelloggs Corn Flakes, that's us, flakes. This has become our mantra for this camping season: "we regret that, even after much preparation and anticipation, we cannot attend our own camping trip this time. Mike's dad is in the hospital. We're out of the camping scene for the entire weekend.

WELL ALL...! I did make it, along with Bill and the two dogs. We were the only VW Van in sight, but we had a really nice time. We camped up on the hillock up above last year's site. We had intermittent gusts of strong wind interspersed with occasional breaks in the coastal fog. The family down the hill from us burned a half-ton truck bed full of firewood in this contraption that put out so much heat, they walked around in short and t-shirts the whole time!
Sunday we packed it in at Ocean Cove and headed over to Armstrong Woods outside of Guerneville. THAT, my friends is a subject for another thread...

Hey thanks, intrepid camper friends, Joel, Bill, and dogs, for the update. We were sorry we missed another, again (but Mike's dad needed us). We have camping gear in our livimg room-- that's as far as we got -- but we get caught in little day dreams of coastal CHILL!
