Join us in the scenic and historic Feather River Canyon at Hallsted Campground in the Plumas National Forest.
We have a full house. ALL SITES HAVE BEEN RESERVED as of May 17. There is one non-reservable site you can take a chance on. Otherwise, check the comment wall to see if someone wants to share. The recreation.gov link is below:
The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:
dirt or asphalt? plenty of both.
has anyone checked the weather? kinda looks like another warm one, yes?
We have the river to cool off in, we have lots of shade. It doesn't look like it will approach the 100's we had in 2013. Upper 80's-90, we can deal with that. Personally, I'd like to see the thunderstorms roll back into the forecast.
Randy: As to biking, dirt and gravel riding is available-check with Blake or Stephan W. There is a dirt road that runs out of Twain and into the Butterfly Valley. I don't know where they went from there. Highway 70 is lovely but there isn't much room on the side and certainly no bike lane. At least the logging trucks won't be running on the weekend. We hope.
The PCT crosses 70 in Belden Town, but other than that, there's just not a lot of hiking/biking in the immediate area.
Randy, drink yer beer and be quiet :P
Randy, Blake wants to know what type of riding your wanting to do and what kind of bike you're thinking of throwing on the bus?
Looks like Twain is still in an AT&T cellular hole. Got to go to Quincy (maybe Keddie) for a cell signal.

Verizon, OTOH, has Twain right in its sights:

Any good places to jump into the river??
Where there is water would be my guess :)
Somebody has been taking his feisty pills (or is it he hasn't been taking them???) :-p
