This is #11, so we're well into our second decade!
We are going back to Sandy Beach in Rio Vista, CA. This is our annual practice run and food fest before Thanksgiving. Reserve sites soon as they may go fast if the sport fishermen/women come back this year.
Party Central will be back at site #4. Bring food, wine, and wood (although wood may also be available on-site).
I am willing to procure and provide the bird as I have 9 out of 10 years. However, a 14 lb turkey is not enough for 37 or so diners. I suggest that it would be nice if someone brought a spiral ham or a big hearty vegetarian dish to supplement the main attraction. Or maybe someone can grill turkey legs or something on another grill. Plus we'll need things like cranberry sauce or relish, gravy and so forth. I will bring extra marinade for basting the turkey on the grill.
A ham would be a good idea. So would a vegetarian dish. Any volunteers? Along with cooking the turkey, I'll also make the famous "Upstate New York Salt Potatoes" I've brought in the past. If Shari brings the stuffing, we'll have all the traditional stuff covered. I think I may also bring some weisswurst (aka bockwurst) that we can put on the grill along with the turkey.
I have been trying to convince a Westy friend of mine to join us in Rio Vista and share my space. Alas.....his loss.
So long story short, I would love to share my spot with anyone still looking for a place to park! I was thinking of bringing either a giant green salad or some crazy-good dip and chips. Any thoughts?
my lovely wife is vegan...we'll work on a veggie main dish too
I will bring my brussel sprout dish so that Gene can continue to give me grief about them :)
I LOVE Laura's Brussels Sprouts.
I love them too, but I rather see somebody who's hungry enjoy them.
FYI - Dave and Yolanda here .. we are bringing cornbread dressing
What about pie? Who's bring pie?
I always bring a couple of Apple, or one apple and pumpkin
