The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

Where's site 29 located? :P
Don't hurt me... :)
29 is by the hot tub down by the river...Gene keeps reserving that one, and keeping it all to himself.
My first trip up Hwy 70. About how long does the drive up take? I want to gauge leaving Sacramento to get there around the 2p.m. check in time. Thanks
Google maps...
Bruce, Stay away from my hot tub!
Stephanie: Give yourself about 3 hours in Vanagon time and with stops. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful scenic drive. Gas up in Oroville before you head into the canyon so you don't freak out about gas. I wouldn't worry too much about check-in time, there's probably nobody there but us chickens.
I was gonna call your bluff on that one but MapQuest has Sacto to Quincy at 2.5 hrs.
Break out the ice charms. We need to keep this a cool one huh?
Wow, thank you !!
Dunno, Regis, that river will be nice and COLD this year! That said, bring swim gear and sand chairs if you plan to cool off in the river. Last couple of years were extra hot.
Twain Store has ice, beer, sandwiches, ice cream. Camp host will have wood.
