The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

The Twain Store is walking distance from the campground and has ice, ice cream, deli items, beer and more. The camp host will have firewood for sale.

Everyone, we unfortunately are heading south for a well deserved vacation during Trainspotting so I will be giving back my site 8 to recreation.gov. If anyone is interested in claiming that site, I’ll wait til you contact me to give it back so you can jump on it.
OK, so sadly, as mentioned above, I have cancelled my reservation for site 8 and it is now available on recreation.gov. Sorry we can't be there. It's one of my favorite places.
Does anybody know if there is any bike trails? Mountain or street bike?
Mountain bike trail from Twain to Butterfly Valley. Crosses railroad tracks. I don't know the details.

Hi - I have just reserved site 8...looking forward to camping again!
I drove to Quincy last weekend, and found that it was clear sailing from Oroville to Twain along 70. (And, yes, I spotted some trains, too.) If you're coming from the direction of Quincy to Twain, there are signs saying "rough road," but as of last weekend the road surface wasn't that bad.
It's time to start the chatter. Historically at TrainSpotting, we have had a group potluck dinner on Saturday. Does the group want to have a potluck again this year? Or take a year off and dine on your own? Please weigh in with your preference. I, for one, am ready to skip it for a change.
If anyone is looking for a camping spot, let me know. I think we might be having to cancel.
Cook on our own is fine with me.
