VW Camper Family

A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.

Is it comon for a '93 Eurovan to have coil issues when it rains? Is there an EASY fix to keep water from dropping onto the coil, if that is the problem? Do I just have to fabricate an "umbrella" for the coil? I don't need a fancy fix, at 215,000 miles, I just want to be able to drive in the rain without having to worry 'bout it stalling on me.

Not trying to be dismissive, but what makes you think it's a coil problem specifically?
There's probably some decent Eurovan technical advice here:

The reason I think it's the coil, when I did a tune up, the plug wires were stiff enough to actually stand straight up on their own, and every time it dies on the road, the coil is soaked in it's little tray. I'm not saying it's on the secondary side for sure, it could be on the primary side. I know alot of VW tricks and problems, but I'm not up to speed on the quirks of a high milage Eurovan. I will be checking the link you posted for me, thank you.
