VW Camper Family

A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.

Ideally suited as a base camp for hikes both short and long (and looooong). It fills up sometimes but usually not until late afternoon or early evening. $20/night plus park entrances fees. Nearly a hundred sites are divided into two loops, many of which can accomodate two VWs...

...easily. The lower loop is closer to the lake but has fewer trees as I recall. We stayed in the upper loop and didn't really notice our neighbors. There are flush toilets and water. And bears.

I think this might be my favorite campground we've been to in GNP so far. There are hikes all over the place, including a few to waterfalls. Don't miss Running Eagle Falls, either on your way in or as a hike after you've struck camp. There's a boat shuttle that'll take you to the far end of the lake (and back, if you make it before the last boat of the day) to cut down on the hike to Twin Falls or Upper Two Medicine Lake. If you can get a canoe out onto (Middle) Two Medicine Lake you'll probably snag a couple good trout for dinner--make sure you pick up a copy of the fishing regs at the entrance or ranger station though.
