I think when I sold the bus the motor had about 70K on it. The only problem I ever had was a broken pushrod and that was after driving pretty much non stop from Olympia Washington to Santa cruz at 70+ overloaded form a week of junkyarding around the Pacific North West. I was on the interstate and I was seeing if the oil temp would go up if I held it at 90mph for 10 minutes. Oil temp did fine, the push rod suffered.

Wow, that sounds like a tough setup, even my 1600 gets hot at those speeds. Do you have more pictures? Is that the stock fuel pump I see? How about an external oil cooler?
External cooler, deep sump, dog house cooler and oil filter. I believe the system held 7 or 9 quarts of oil. Yes we used the stock fuel pump. I'll look to see if I have more pictures, but I do not think so. It is by far the best big motor you can build and nobody does a better job than Steve Philips at Wolfgang International. He has lots of little hidden tricks that really make it a strong and reliable motor.
