Who wants to help me rebuild an engine? I have a 1600 core to work with that I haven't inspected yet. The goal is a 2007 cc using 90.5 cylinders and a 78 mm crank. Is there a good machine shop in the…Continue

Hey Doug, looks like we have about identical bus'.... Mine has a few rust spots in the regular area's like the rockers, the battery tray and so forth. I have bought a welder and will cut my teeth learning on my bus. It's been in the family since new, my uncle bought it and picked it up in London from a dealer and drove it around Europe for about a year then had shipped back. I've owned since '92 and just last summer finally started on it. So far I've completely gutted it and washed it out 3 times in the driveway to get all the rodent stuff out and there was a ton. How are things going with yours?

Doug-

Any thoughts on the New Brighton GTG? I am thinking of bringing my bicycle to be able to ride into Capitola, but I have no personal experience with this area. What site are you in? I am in 38 with Joel B. Pot luck? Getting late.

Doug, was it you who was looking for a light switch for the Westy interior light? I found a lamp assembly at Bugorama and bought it for $10.00, which I remember as being the price quoted by whoever asked for it.

Hey Doug! I received your friend request and accepted it. Hello friend! Now, do we know each other?

I was looking through your posts about replacing your brake calipers. Where did you buy the rebuilt calipers? My bus is a 1970 w/o disk brakes. I've bought an old set of brakes off of a 1971 along with the brake booster so I'm thinking of doing the conversion. Would still need to get a set of rear brakes to end up with the same 5x112 bolt pattern. After gettitng in to all this I am considering buying a new more modern aftermarket brake setup where I can keep the 5x205 bolt pattern. I have to build my engine first before I start messing with the brakes. I'll be getting all my machined parts back tomorrow. If you are looking for a good engine builder/ machine shop, I can highly recommend Ken Jansen at Jansen Enterprise in Belmont. You have to be patient as he is very busy but he's the best with over 30 years experience. The guy at Buggy House is ok if you plan to go no larger than a 1776. He does not do machining for stokers at all. I'm building a 2017CC for my bus. Sean at Buggy House is awesome and a great guy! He can probably get anything you might need in a day or two.

Hummmm, that should say strokers, not stokers. LOL
