My old stomping grounds, H-49 through Plymouth, E-16 through Fiddletown, Mt. Aukum, Somerst, Pollock Pines, back to H-50 to Ice House and Union. Did you stop by to checkout Jenkins Lake (Sly Park)?
We didn't get to Jenkins Lake this time, it was sure pretty though. There was about a foot of snow at Pollock Pines. My parents live on Crystal Blvd, south of El Dorado off Hwy 49. We go back up there frequently.
You guys are brave, intrepid travelers! I avoid snow because the 2WD Vanagon stinks in the snow- I spent a winter in Mass driving one, I know first hand. Did you have to chain up? Great pix, thanks for posting.

No chains on that trip, we only pulled off the paved road about 10 feet, onto hard packed and plowed dirt. I didn't want to get stuck either. The snow base around the van was at least 3 feet deep. Great trip, snowshoeing was exhausting, very slow going.
